Another infamous flop from the creative team of producer Howard Hughes and actor John Wayne, who had also teamed on THE CONQUEROR (also available on Google Video). This film actually went into production in 1949, but wasnt finished and ready for an official release until 1957 (the year after the release of the Genghis Khan film). Directed by Josef Von Sternberg. Co-starring Janet Leigh. Great fun for bad movie buffs!

Fell out of copyright... Scandalous for it's time, the movie "The Outlaw," directed by Howard Hughes, is the story of Billy the Kid, Doc Holiday, and Pat Garrett. The plot is thin at best, but we are introduced to a 22 year old Jane Russell which makes the film almost worthwhile.

Janet Leigh comes well-equipped with her awesome woman-power to take on the original "Top-gun" John Wayne in this russian spy-pilot versus big-guy-sky-cowboy cold war "mile high club"tale. The pair make love not war as Janet leigh cannot resisit the Duke's "secret weapon" again and again. Of course the Duke goes "above and beyond the call of duty" and comes out on top as he lassos another little doggie. Witty dialogue and surprising plot keeps you guessing if all really is fair in love and war. I wonder why Howard Hughes couldn't come up with a better title over the 8 years it took to make this movie.
